Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards is
nestled in the redwoods along the historic "Chain d'Or" in the Santa
Cruz Mountains.
Established by French immigrant
Pierre Pourroy in 1892, Savannah Chanelle still makes estate wines
from some of the original plantings that date back to 1910. The
vineyard is situated on 58 acres with 14 of those acres cultivated
for producing four different award winning varietals of wine:
Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel and Carignane. The
approximately one and a half acre of Pinot Noir that was planted in
the Spring of 2000 should be producing wine within three to four
years, also. The winery's Redwood Tasting Room which was built in
1912 and Mediterranean style chateau with spectacular views is
available for small seminars, meetings and parties, with outdoor
facilities for weddings, larger parties, picnics and barbeques.
There is also a large tent/canopy set up to accomodate groups of up
to 250 available for a more intimate setting. Originally opened in
1917, the winery was built in a traditional, pre-electricity,
gravity flow design.
Conveniently located just 3.3 miles from the
Village of Saratoga, this working winery and special event site is
close to Silicon Valley but worlds away from the veryday business
environment.
